I am a NJ transplant, living here since 2005. Having been involved in exercise for several years, I was looking to continue with it and was encouraged to try something different – ZUMBA®!
First class I attended I thought the instructor was out of her mind; even this exercise nut was “lost”.
But my Type A came out again and I was determined that this “Zumba®
” thing was not going to get the best of me; plus I was losing weight and inches. I decided that I needed to prove that you need not be 20-something to instruct others, just a need to look and FEEL the best WE can possibly be; imagine dancing and losing weight – WHAT A CONCEPT!
As has been proven in all fields, updated training should be taken advantage of. Zumba® International allows up the opportunity of on-going training. I am certified in Basic Zumba®, which encompasses several levels of activity, Zumba® Gold for the beginner/age-oriented exerciser and Aqua Zumba®, which in essence is “dancing in the water”. I am also certified in Zumba® Toning, incorporating weights into our workouts and Zumba® Gold Toning, which also incorporates weights but at a lower rate of intensity. And my latest certification is in the latest new exercise sensation - Zumba® Step which takes lower body workouts and calorie burning to new heights with a gravity-defying blend of Zumba routines and step aerobics.
“YOU CAN DO IT” All you need to do is TRY!!!!!!

Here's a short BIO from Nadeene; Joanne's will follow.
About 3 years ago I was looking for a way to work out and get fit. There were not many gyms in the local area and I had no clue how to use the equipment anyway. One evening late at night on TV I saw some Zumba infomercials and almost bought the DVD’s to try at home. At that time I had never heard of the word “Zumba”! But I instantly loved the music and the beat & thought it looked like a fun way to exercise and dance at the same time. This was exactly what I needed, but I decided instead of buying the DVD from the TV, I should try to find a class to go to so that I had the motivation of being in a ‘group’.
I found a local instructor that was close and so friendly! Joyce welcomed me into her class and I met some great gals there at a time in my life where I really had no girlfriends. I started to follow this group all over Crystal River & Homosassa to various places for our Zumba classes. I was learning to dance to songs that I never heard before. Now I walk through Walmart or Publix and constantly hear these “Zumba” songs. I could break out and dance right down the aisle if I want to. Seriously, it is a ton of fun that is exercise in disguise. Last week I surprised Joyce (and myself) and became a certified Zumba Instructor. I have a whole lot more respect for all the instructors at Zumba Citrus now!
